(The American Review of Respiratory Disease) A study of 8,000 children found that those from homes with gas stoves had higher rates of respiratory illness, lower lung function, and higher levels of nitrogen dioxide compared to those from homes with electric stoves. Short-term peaks of nitrogen dioxide regularly occurred in kitchens with gas stoves.
