(Chest) After surveying 1,355 children, authors concluded that exposure to gas cooking or cigarette smoking in the first two years of life increases the risk of hospitalization for respiratory illness and results in a more consistent response to inhaled bronchodilator among six- to 12-year-old children with no history of chronic respiratory illness.
