Population Attributable Fraction of Gas Stoves and Childhood Asthma in the United States

(International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health) This study looked at the impact of gas stove use on childhood asthma in the US. They used information from previous studies to calculate the odds of asthma for children exposed to gas stoves and found that about 12.7% of childhood asthma in the US is caused by gas stove use. This percentage varies by state, with the highest being in Illinois (21.1%) and California (20.1%). These results show the negative impact gas stove use has on childhood asthma in the US - with 35% of households using them for cooking.
