(International Journal of Epidemiology) This meta-analysis aimed to quantify the association between indoor nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and childhood asthma and wheeze. The study analyzed 41 population studies published up to March 2013 and found that gas cooking exposure increases the risk of asthma and a 15 ppb increase in NO2 increases the risk of current wheeze. The findings provide evidence that gas cooking and indoor NO2 exposure increase the risk of respiratory illnesses in children.
